Who Are We?
We are a group of environmentally aware bicycle enthusiasts based in South Dublin whose sole aim is to make our community greener using re-cycled bicycles.
Green Bikes of Ireland is a nonprofit entity partnering with the local university system and charitable organisations. We are guided by the tenets of social enterprise and sustainability as we strive to meet the environmental and social needs of our community, thereby also promoting bicycle use and a healthier lifestyle.
We do this by actively rescuing abandoned bicycles, restoring them and offering the finished product to like minded individuals at an affordable price and as long term rentals throughout the year. We offer an alternative to the unnecessary purchase of new expensive bicycles which fill landfills. These older bicycles are lovingly refurbished for a second life for students primarily and also young professionals in the city. Once our rentals have finished with their bicycles, they are returned for a small deposit and tuned up for reuse by the next client at a reasonable price. We are available 24 hours a day and can pick up or drop off bikes.
What We Offer
All of our inventory are formerly unwanted bicycles that are often donated by local authorities and brought back to life, road worthy and safe. The selections available are basic hybrid road shifting bikes and that are roughly between 10 and 20 years old, (predominantly Raleighs) sized 20 to 24 inch frames.
Each bicycle is made to be safe and road worthy in a process of evaluation and maintenance by a local bicycle shop. All bikes come with locks and lights as part of the package.
We bring formerly unwanted bikes back to life, road worthy and safe.
Donations for the Homeless
Another positive side of our operation is set up to offer free bicycles to the homeless community through various local charity centres. We do not seek profit but to reinvest into the community.
